Today, I was in Jackson, MS, today for several client meetings. I was on my way from an appointment trying to get my way to Kinko's when I noticed that all roadways to the interstate were shut down. Apparently, President Bush was in town for a visit. I managed to get on the frontage roads but could not find a way to get on the other side of the freeway since everything was blocked. I did manage to see President Bush's motorcade drive by on the interstate.
So, finally after I get to Kinko's and spend an hour on the phone returning messages and putting out fires, I leave for an appointment that I have about 5 miles north of where I was. Again, the freeway was shut down because President Bush was making his way back to the airport. ARGH!!! So, instead of 10 minutes, it took me 50 minutes to get to my appointment, which I was late for. Thankfully, the VP's that I was meeting was also caught in traffic. I did see his motorcade a second time.
The funny thing was watching everyone pull to the side of the road, run across the frotage roads to the freeway to see the motorcade. Rumor has it that the second time that President Bush motorcade was on the freeway, that he was not in it. Rather, he flew via helicoptor to the airport. HA - he fooled everyone!
